Misrata | October 10, 2026 - Misrata University organized an awareness seminar today, Saturday, in the workshops and conference hall of the Faculty of Arts, entitled: “Rumors in the Digital Space and Their Negative Effects on the Individual and Society,” under the slogan “Towards a Legal, Behavioral, and Religious Awareness in Dealing with Rumors,” with the participation of a select group of academics and specialists.

The seminar was opened with a speech by the President of Misrata University, Professor Dr. Bashir Abubakr Al-Qunaidi, followed by scientific sessions that addressed legal, psychological, and cybersecurity aspects, focusing on the dangers of rumors and misinformation in the digital space, their effects on the individual and society, and the responsibility in sharing digital content.
The symposium was attended by the Minister of State for Prime Ministerial and Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Omar Bin Ghalbon, who participated in part of the event, along with a number of academics and those interested in community affairs.

Participants discussed ways to reduce the spread of rumors, raise awareness of their dangers, and establish a culture of verifying information before sharing it, thus contributing to the responsible use of the digital space.

This symposium is part of Misrata University`s commitment to raising community awareness, strengthening the role of academic institutions in addressing contemporary issues, and contributing to building a more conscious and responsible digital environment.
