
Misrata University holds its eighth meeting to follow up on the progress of the educational process for the 2025/2026 academic year

This morning, Saturday, the University of Misurata Council held its eighth regular meeting for the year 2025, chaired by the university president, Professor Bashir Abu Bakr Al-Qunaidi, and attended by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Secretary-General, the Registrar-General, the deans of the faculties, and the Director of the University Council Affairs Office.
The meeting began with a review of the minutes of the previous session held on September 7, 2025. The Council then moved on to follow up on the progress of the educational process, the admission of new students for the 2025/2026 academic year, and matters related to the start of the new academic year.
The Council discussed a proposal to amend some provisions in the graduate studies regulations at the College of Health Sciences, in addition to including a new course in the College of Science, "Diagnostic Pathobiology," within the Microbiology Department. It also reviewed the allocation of a new headquarters for the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. The freeze on the Department of Da`wah and Rhetoric at the College of Islamic Studies was also discussed, and proposals related to the powers of the Languages and Translation Center were studied.
The Director of the Documentation and Information Center and the Director of the University`s International Cooperation Office reviewed the report on Misurata University`s international rankings and ways to develop its academic standing. The Director of the Documentation and Information Center provided an overview of the QS World University Rankings, explaining its importance in measuring the quality of education and scientific research and the international standing of universities.
It is noteworthy that Misurata University has been included in the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2026 in recognition of the quality of its higher education and research output. The University President has received an invitation to attend the forum, scheduled to be held in the Sultanate of Oman from October 15-16, 2025.
The university president emphasized the importance of following up on the implementation of the recommendations and decisions issued, affirming that the council continues its efforts to enhance the quality of education and scientific research and develop the University of Misrata`s standing locally and internationally.
