Misrata University Holds Seventh Meeting, Discusses Academic Year Plans and Scientific Initiatives

This morning, Sunday, the University of Misrata Council held its seventh regular meeting of the current year. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Bashir Abu Bakr Al-Qunaidi, President of the University, and attended by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Secretary-General, the Registrar-General, the Deans of the Faculties, and the Director of the University Council Affairs Office.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech from the university president, followed by a review of the minutes of the previous meeting. The agenda items were then discussed, primarily the 2025/2026 academic year schedule, the admission capacity of the medical sciences colleges, and the study plan submitted by the University Affairs Department.
The Council also discussed the unified performance rate model for faculty members and a teaching load schedule for leadership and administrative positions, as part of the university`s efforts to streamline academic and administrative workflow.
In the academic context, the Council discussed the ongoing preparations for hosting the fourth scientific conference of the Libyan Sociological Society, which the University is organizing in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the coming period.
The meeting witnessed the approval of amendments to the internal regulations of the College of Information Technology and the regulations for postgraduate studies at the College of Dentistry. Regarding academic activities, the Council reviewed college requests to organize a number of scientific conferences, most notably:
- The Seventh Academic Conference for Economics and Business Studies at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science.
- The scientific conference to be held at the Faculty of Education.
The Council also discussed a proposal to establish new academic departments affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities and Applied Sciences - Abu Qurain.
The meeting concluded with the university president stressing the need to follow up on the implementation of the recommendations and decisions issued, which will contribute to enhancing the quality of the educational and research process and reflecting the university`s societal role.
