
May 28, 2025 – The first Libyan International Conference on Chemical and Biological Safety and Security (Liccbss 2025) kicked off this Wednesday morning at the Faculty of Education at Misurata University, with the attendance of a group of academics, interested parties, and representatives of supporting organizations.
The conference activities were opened with speeches delivered by the President of Misurata University Conferences, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Danfour, the Scientific Committee, Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Asl, after the National Committee for Bio-Integration and Ethics began after Prof. Dr. Abdul Qader Al-Sahaqi, the Director of the Security and Electricity Department in Misurata, Mr. Abdul bin Al-Qader Ghalibun.The speakers emphasized the importance of this scientific event in supporting research paths and promoting safety concepts in academic and community environments.
The opening program included a public lecture delivered by Dr. Salah Afneesh, a faculty member at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Benghazi, on the international standard ISO 35001, which is one of the fundamental standards for biosafety management. He noted that it consists of ten parts, including twenty-six papers, outlining a clear map of the mechanisms for implementing the standard within the relevant institutions.
The ceremony honored a number of prominent figures who contributed to the organization and success of the conference, as well as the trainers who participated in the workshops, in addition to the supporting bodies and institutions, in appreciation of their contributions to the success of this distinguished scientific event.
