Misrata | May 18, 2026 - The Department of Tourism and Antiquities at the Faculty of Arts, Misrata University, organized an event today, Monday, to mark International Museum Day, with the participation of a number of faculty members and those interested in the cultural and heritage field, in addition to the participation of representatives of channels and media outlets.
The event addressed the importance of museums as cultural and educational institutions that contribute to preserving cultural and human heritage, promoting awareness of peoples` history and cultural identity, and supporting tourism and knowledge dissemination.

The event also featured presentations and discussions highlighting the importance of preserving archaeological and heritage artifacts and fostering interest in tourism and archaeological studies within academic institutions.
The organizers of the event emphasized that commemorating International Museum Day aims to raise public awareness of the importance of heritage and encourage scientific and cultural activities that highlight and showcase Libya`s cultural heritage.

The event concluded with attendees praising the importance of such activities in promoting community culture and connecting academic studies with the historical and cultural dimensions of society.
