Misurata | Saturday, December 20, 2025 –
On Saturday, the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at the University of Misurata organized the Seventh Academic Conference on Economics and Business Studies under the theme *“Trust in Institutions Is Built Through the Governance of Practices,”* with the generous sponsorship of the Libyan Iron and Steel Company.

The opening session of the conference was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at the University of Misurata, Dr. Fathi Al-Taher Al-Treiki, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan Iron and Steel Company, Dr. Mohammed Abdelmalek Al-Faqih, in addition to a number of deans, directors of departments and offices representing the University of Misurata, as well as representatives of the Libyan Iron and Steel Company.

A number of researchers, academics, and those interested in economic and administrative affairs also participated in the opening events, underscoring the importance of the conference themes and its role in supporting scientific research and linking academic knowledge with issues of governance and institutional practices.

Following the opening ceremony, the scientific sessions of the conference commenced at both Omar Al-Toumi Al-Shaibani Auditorium and the Graduate Studies Auditorium at the faculty, in the presence of the President of the University of Misurata, Prof. Dr. Bashir Abubakr Al-Qunaidi; the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Dughman; and the University Secretary-General, Eng. Ali Abdullah Al-Suraiti.

The conference aims to discuss the latest studies and research in the fields of economics and business, and to highlight the role of governance of practices in building trust and enhancing institutional efficiency and performance, thereby contributing to supporting development pathways and advancing institutional work.
