Misurata University mourns Professor Katie Head, a faculty member at Nottingham Trent University in the UK, who signed a cooperation agreement with Misurata University to teach master`s students from 2006 to 2012. During this period, 34 graduates completed their studies in the English language program, benefiting from her dedicated efforts to ensure the success of the agreement.

Professor Katie Head showed great care for her students, starting with teaching an Academic Writing course before the first semester, guiding and reviewing their research, and creating a successful academic environment that earned her students’ love and respect. She also helped them integrate with other university students after they traveled to the United Kingdom, as well as with the faculty members there.

She was a role model, deeply attached to the city of Misurata, donating a substantial amount of money during the early days of the revolution. During her visit to Misurata in March 2012, she cried at what she saw in the city streets. She also provided significant support to the English Department at the Faculty of Arts by supplying books and references, either brought with her or sent via express mail.

She also participated in the following activities at the University Language Center:

2016 – Course on English public speaking skills, targeting university leaders and some faculty members.

2016 – First English Language Teaching Conference (ELT Conference I).

2017 – Second English Language Teaching Conference (ELT Conference II).

2019 – Course on English conversation and public speaking skills, targeting several faculty members and staff.

At the Faculty of Arts:

2009 – Course on English public speaking skills for the second cohort of the joint master’s program with Nottingham Trent University, attended by students from the Faculty of Information Technology.

She also conducted a training course for the Misurata Education Directorate to improve English teaching skills. Some of these courses were offered free of charge as a tribute to the city and its people.

She was deeply loved by all her friends and students, leaving everyone who knew her with profound sadness.
