
Misurata, July 3, 2025 – The sixth regular meeting of the University of Misurata Council was held this Thursday morning, chaired by the Acting President of Misurata University, Professor Ibrahim Daghman, and attended by the Vice Presidents for Academic Affairs, the Secretary-General, the University Registrar, deans of faculties, and directors of centers and departments. The meeting began with offering condolences on the passing of Professor Abdullah Al-Mabrouk Al-Darrat. A faculty member at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, the President also expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Danfour for his sincere efforts and distinguished contributions during his tenure as President of the University.
The council discussed a number of important items, including a review of the minutes of the previous University Council meeting, the progress of final exams at the university`s colleges, and the honoring of students who achieved top rankings in the Fine Arts Competition at the Libyan university level, hosted by the University of Tripoli last April.
Regarding developments from the Ministry of Higher Education, the Council discussed the Minister`s letter regarding the adoption of a unified teaching load model and a table of financial standards for faculty members assigned to leadership and administrative roles, ensuring standardized procedures and regulating obligations in accordance with applicable laws.
The Council also discussed a number of internal procedures, including the approval of the College of Pharmacy bylaws, the strategic plan for the College of Humanities and Applied Sciences, the freezing of the Health Sciences Department within the College of Humanities and Applied Sciences, the opening of classrooms for the College of Information Technology at Zawyet El Mahjoub, and the approval of the College of Science`s examination guide and teaching hour models for some colleges.
The meeting concluded with a discussion of the Quality Assurance Office reports, reviewing the current status of the university`s colleges for June, the semi-annual reports, and referrals related to obtaining permission to practice two doctoral programs in the specializations of (Curricula and Teaching Methods) and (Principles of Education) at the Faculty of Arts.
