The Faculty was founded in 1997 as an affiliated subordinate faculty to the Tripoli University of Medical Science. Starting from the academic year 2000 it was assigned to the Misurata University of Departments and ultimately to the University of Misurata in 2004.
The purpose of the Faculty of Medicine of Misurata University is to supply the national and international community with qualified doctors capable of recognizing and solving health problems in society, besides conducting scientific research to ensure the upgrading of the health care system, and being a changing tool to improve the health beliefs and behaviors.
The Faculty also aims to render its graduates able to continue their education in the field of family medicine or any other medical specialty.
The high quality of medical education and health services and community involvement will be our way to achieve our goal.

One of the modern rules of education and which enable medical schools to attain the goals of modern medical practice is to tackle the health problems in the local sphere.
We at the Faculty of Medicine have our eyes set on qualifying medical practitioners with distinct efficiency to open the gates wide open for them to work and study in the entirety of medical domains. We pay special attention in the fields of family medicine and primary health care as they are key requirements to achieve scientific standards in medical education and deliver adequate health services.
